KeSa House staycation review

LSQ planned the perfect staycation at KeSa House in September for the boyfriend’s 30th birthday and decided to share a review.

What makes for a perfect staycation for LSQ?

From my perspective, a perfect, relaxing staycation should have / be
i) a comfy bed in a spacious chic room with a view, if possible
ii) access to good food
iii) access to booze
iv) in a cool happening location so I can pretend / imagine I live there
v) not too extravagant because then I’d rather travel overseas

For me, I don’t need a pool or gym because I can use my condo’s, and neither do I need spa or massage services because I prefer to spend time in the room since I paid good money for it! I can go for spa or massage another time while I’m not on staycay 😀

KeSa House staycation

After doing my research into reviews and price comparisons, LSQ decided on a staycation at the relatively new KeSa House in Keong Saik Road.

Why KeSa House?

Because it fulfils the criteria I set out above for a perfect staycation! The hotel is new, design-focused, chic, and modern. It’s located in the hip yet cultural Keong Saik Road, and the best part – they are partners with some very hip bars and restaurants and guests get exclusive discounts / perks. :]]]]]

KeSa House staycation review

I booked the ‘Entertain Room’:

An idyllic room featuring your very own lush green private terrace, offering a tranquil haven to read a book or spend a relaxing evening with friends.

The description fit my experience to the T! The room was spacious and cleverly designed, the bed and pillows were comfortable, and the only con was that the toilet is rather small (but toiletries were by Ashley & Co so plus points there!)

I liked that the bed was high and comfy!

As you can see, the shower area is pretty cramped, but overall it was still clever use of a small space to eke out a usable toilet!

What I really loved about the room was the private terrace which overlooked the footpath behind Keong Saik Road, so you can still feel + hear the happening vibes, but in complete privacy (unless some creep looks up and catches your eye).

Quaint little private piece of heaven right smack in the bustling Keong Saik area!

Other than well-designed rooms for a relaxing stay, KeSa house also focuses on thoughtful communal spaces for pleasant shared experiences among guests.

The lounge area on our floor

I forgot to take photos of the kitchen/pantry area, but it had everything one’d need to prepare meals or have a cuppa. KeSa House doesn’t provide bottled water, but instead you can fill up glass bottles with both still and sparkling water from the dispenser! LSQ approves because this cuts down on plastic waste <3

The Affogato Lounge

We also enjoyed a delicious affogato at the very chill The Affogato Lounge in the lobby of KeSa House. It was literally the best affogato I’ve had in my life and the best part was – hotel guests get a discount! :]]]

Tip: Coffee here isn’t great, so have it at the KeSa Kitchen instead where it’s free for guests LOL

The Trilogy – not for bitter choc / coffee fans, but oh so good for me

Fringe Benefits – The Old Man & The Guild

Along the same row of shophouses where KeSa House is are 2 bars of interest to LSQ: The Old Man Singapore and The Guild.

LSQ went to both and had 1 drink each (cos dengue recovery period / liver damage):

Bar at The Old Man Singapore
The Old Man is obviously inspired by Ernest Hemingway
Cocktails at The Old Man Singapore
The green drink is called Death In The Afternoon #1932 and may look suspicious but it’s DAMN GOOD! It tastes like a super yummy pandan dessert <3
HKG craft beer at The Guild
I’m already planning a visit to The Guild again to try more Hong Kong craft beer on tap!

The best part was being able to walk ‘home’ from either bars and be in bed in 3 minutes after drinks. I love my cheap thrills!

Before I wipe clean……..

LSQ’d definitely recommend a staycation at KeSa House to locals looking for a short home-away-from-home getaway, as well as to tourists looking to live like a hip local when they’re in Singapore.

I need to caveat though, I booked one of the bigger rooms in the property and I’d imagine the basic rooms to be way smaller.

Hence, do consider topping up from $20 to $80 per night ($180 vs $200-$260) for comfort. If you’re on a tight budget but space is a concern, then maybe consider other hotels.

Ciao till the next shit!
